CELINA - Kyle Gerlach, appointed the new head of the county emergency medical services department in late August, said he's adjusting well as he familiarizes himself with the agency's operations and personnel.
Previously having worked for a private ambulance service in Darke County, Gerlach of Coldwater took over as EMS director on Sept. 6, replacing Matt Nietfeld, who resigned July 1. He updated county commissioners last week about EMS' direction and proposed budget for next year. [More]

CELINA - Mercer County Engineering Department officials plan for a busy 2017 with the Mud Pike improvement project and an extensive chip and seal schedule to repair deteriorating county roads.
St. Marys budget
ST. MARYS - City finance committee members on Monday approved the proposed $56.7 million appropriations budget for 2017 and will send it to council for consideration.
FORT RECOVERY - The village will apply for a $268,000 grant to help pay for the William Street reconstruction project.
Village administrator Randy Diller said the Ohio Public Works Commission grant would cover just more than half of the $400,000 project. Work likely will begin in late summer.
