Leo O'Dowd
Leo Leslie O'Dowd, 87, Saint Marys, died 3:45 A.M. Saturday, December 3, 2016, at Auglaize Acres nursing home.
He was born December 2, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Edmund and Christine (Forrest) O'Dowd.
Leo was a member of the VFW, American Legion and was a union pipefitter and belonged to UA Local 469. He traveled to different cities to keep up his trade. That is how he met the love of his life, Monica Maria Oen. They met at Grand Lake St. Marys on July 23, 1968 and were married on November 29, 1968. They just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year, and Monica survives at Auglaize Acres.
Leo is survived by his children Robert (Page Spurling) O'Dowd, and Leslie O'Dowd. He loved his children and six grandchildren: Ashleigh, Abigail, and Allyson O'Dowd; Tristan, Christine, and Neal Chaudhry. He is survived by his siblings: Mary Pierce, Margaret Marr and Michael (Julie) O'Dowd; and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings Patrick (Lotus) O'Dowd, Paxton Marr (brother-in-law), Wayne Pierce (brother-in-law), Cecile (John) Tilger; and by his son, Daniel O'Dowd.
Leo was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a paratrooper and Howitzer cannon operator in the Korean War from 1950-53.
Leo was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Marys.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, December 9, 2016, at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynwood, the Reverend Barry Stechschulte and the Reverend Joe Brown, con-celebrants. Burial will follow at Saint Thomas Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio.
