Dorothy Wright
Dorothy G. "Dodie" Wright, age 90 of Celina passed away on Tuesday Jan. 26, 2016 at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
She was born on December 10, 1925 in Lima Ohio to the late Theron & Bertha (Miller) Hollingsworth. On April 18, 1949 she married Theodore "Ted" Wright, who died on May 31, 1980.
Survivors include her son & daughter-in-law Kip & Mary Wright of Celina, her daughter Lori & Russ Bailey of Gulfport, Mississippi, grandchildren Amber & Mac Dickinson, Tom & Sheryl Johnson, Lisa & Michael Wright, Jeff & Candi Wright, Katie & Kevin Miller and several great grandchildren.
Dodie was preceded in death by her two sons Tim and Jack Wright, her daughter Teresa Wright and one infant son Teddy. She was also preceded in death by her brother Bob Hollingsworth and two sisters Irene Koch and Betty Jo Snow.
She was a graduate of the Lima Memorial School of Nursing. Dodie worked at both Gibbons and Otis Hospitals in Celina prior to moving to Iron Mountain, Michigan in 1972. She then worked at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain for 18 years in the Obstetrical department. After retirement, she returned to Celina in 1992 and worked at the Celina Manor for nearly two years.
Dodie was a member of the American Nursing Association, Michigan Nursing Association, the Mercer County History Club, the Mercer County Council on Aging and the St. John Lutheran Church in Celina. She thoroughly enjoyed her 45 years of nursing, especially helping to deliver and take care of the newborn babies. She also liked to knit and read.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 30, 2016 at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
Friends may call an hour before services at the funeral Home.
