St. Marys finalizes trash rate hike

ST. MARYS - After two rate studies and months of debate, St. Marys residents will see a hike on their trash bills starting next month.

City councilors Monday night unanimously passed an emergency ordinance revising the city's trash rates for both in town and out of town residents, along with their commercial clients. [More]

NEW BREMEN - New Bremen village councilors on Monday heard the village will purchase new equipment for more than $350,000.

During the regular meeting, councilors approved third and final reading of a resolution to replace a 1997 bucket truck for around $365,000.

Berne police car hits person unconscious in road

BERNE, Ind. - A Berne Police officer responding to a call regarding a suspicious person was involved in a collision with an individual who was lying unconscious in the roadway Saturday, the Indiana State Police reported.
