Anthony Barhorst
Anthony "Tony" James Barhorst, age 47, of Eilerman Road, Fort Loramie, passed away unexpectantly of natural causes Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington, Georgia. He had been enjoying a skeet shooting competition when he suffered a medical emergency. He was born July 4, 1977, in Sidney, Ohio, to Robert II "Bobby" & Cynthia "Cindy" (Schaffner) Barhorst of Fort Loramie.
Also surviving are three children: Kameron, Cole and Corinne Barhorst all of Fort Loramie; two siblings, Kim & Keith Engel of Richwood and Rob III & Aaron Barhorst of Aberdeen, WA, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins.
In 1996, Tony graduated from Fort Loramie High School and the Upper Valley Joint Vocational School in Piqua where he studied tool & die making. After high school, he continued course work at Sinclair Community College of Dayton. Mr. Barhorst was employed at Ross Aluminum of Sidney where he had been a tool & die CNC programmer and machinist. Over the years, he worked at Honda, Wayne Trail and Lochards.
Additional, Tony managed several rental properties with his business partner, Andy Bensman. He was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church, the Fort Loramie Sons of the American Legion and the Newport Sportsman's Club. Tony was an avid trap shooter and had also been handy with projects ranging from repairing cars to renovating houses. He especially enjoyed spending quality time with his family vacationing, following their sports activities and teaching them how to respectfully handle fire arms.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Friday, May 2, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie with Rev. Andrew Reckers presiding. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
Family and friends may call Thursday, 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Friday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie.
Memorials may be made to the Newport Sportsman's Club or charities of choice. Private condolences may be expressed at the gehretfuneralhome.com website.
