John McJunkin
John R. McJunkin, III, of Saint Marys, died Saturday, August 26, 2023, at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima, Ohio.
He was born December 4, 1948, in Sidney, Ohio, the son of John R. and Paulette (Collins) McJunkin, II.
He married Marcia Schneider on August 31, 1973, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Rhine, Ohio, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by his daughters: Michelle (Jason) Hawkins of Perrysburg, Ohio; Nicole Gannon of Troy, Ohio; by his four grandchildren: Madison and Jillian Hawkins; Caleb and Chloe Baughman.
He is survived by his brother, Jerry McJunkin; by his sisters-in-law, Susan Schneider; Deb (Mark) Egbert; by his brother-in-law, Greg (VIckie) Schneider; by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a brother-in-law, Gary Schneider.
John was a 1967 graduate of St Marys Memorial High School. He served in the US Army and was deployed to Vietnam during the war. He retired from Verizon.
John was a very active member of the American Legion Post Post 323, Saint Marys. He had served on the Auglaize County Veterans' Service Commission and was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America. He was well known around the area as the "phone man." He was a member of St Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynnwood.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, August 31, 2023, John and Marcia's 50th wedding anniversary, at St Patrick's Catholic Church in Glynnwood, Father Stephen Jones, celebrant. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
Friends may call from 3-7 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Thursday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to St Patrick's Catholic Church.
