Eileen Wooles
Eileen Herman Wooles, 94, formerly of Celina, departed this life Aug. 6, 2014, and is now on her way to her next great adventure in the glory of God.
She was born May 19, 1920, in Burkettsville, to Henry and Elizabeth Wildenhaus Herman. In 1945, she married Marcellus "Stormy" Wooles, an Air Force pilot, who died in 1962.
Surviving are a son, Damian (Jan) Wooles, and daughter, Lisa Wooles, Kettering; granddaughter, Shannon (Jeff) Friend; three great-grandchildren, Drew, Tyler and Emily Friend, Monroe, a sister, Joanne Straubinger. Tallahassee, Fla.; a brother, Paul Herman, Celina; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Also deceased are a brother, Gene (Eileen) Herman; two sisters, Marge (Theo) Temple and Lucille (Ed) Rackham; and two sons, Kevin and Sean.
She loved growing up on the farm and spending her teen years in "the big city of Celina" where her family moved when her daddy became county auditor. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic High School, Celina, and then went on to nurses training at Good Samaritan in Dayton. She worked as a country nurse, helping with everything from delivering babies to mending broken bones. She was very proud of being a registered nurse.
She and her husband were stationed all over the world, including the Philippines, Germany and Tripoli, North Africa. She loved the adventure of being a military wife. Her husband died while they were stationed in Germany, and she went on to raise their four children, ages 2, 5, 7 and 9, on her own.
Her second career was as a realtor. She was an owner/broker with Majestic Realty and also worked for McAfee, Schiller and Ryan, Raintree Realtors, Roth Realty and Irongate Realtors, until she retired at the age of 80.
She loved family sing-a-longs around the kitchen table, kids, dogs, being a nurse, being an Air Force wife, being a mom, coffee, corn-on-the-cob, peaches, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, bright colors, anything purple, all the birds - even the brown ones, but especially the cardinals - and, most of all, she loved to laugh.
Her body was donated to the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University, per her request.
A celebration of life memorial service is 7:30 p.m. Aug. 29 at Queen of Apostles Chapel (Bergamo/Mount St. John), Dayton.
Memorials may be made to SICSA, 2600 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45419.
Online memorials and condolences may sent to damian.wooles@gmail.com.
