ST. MARYS - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine on Tuesday met with St. Marys and New Bremen officials and discussed heroin, synthetic drugs and programs offered by the state to assist residents and police departments.
St. Marys Police Chief Mark Ernst said the biggest concern his department is dealing with is heroin. DeWine said heroin is an epidemic affecting every county in Ohio. [More]

WAPAKONETA - The Auglaize County Health Department is now enrolled in a federal program designed to help improve response to foodborne outbreaks such as salmonella.
Director of nursing Cindy Jones told board members Tuesday the health department applied and was approved for the Foodborne Diseases Centers for Outbreak Response program, known as FoodCORE, to better handle cases such as food poisoning. The program is available free of charge. [More]

The Mercer County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a possible scam that is popping up throughout the county.
Sheriff Jeff Grey said his office received at least four complaints this morning and several Tuesday regarding phone calls from people advertising they are with a software company and telling the consumer something is wrong with the computer the consumer owns. [More]

CELINA - The health department has battled back from fiscal woes and projects a carryover of more than $513,000 into 2015.
