Betty Simpson
Former Mendon resident Betty Elaine Simpson, 77, Rockford, died at 6:50 a.m. Dec. 15, 2010, at The Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
She was born Oct. 2, 1933, in Mercer County to Waldo and Ella Mae Book Thomas. On Aug. 1, 1976, she married Maurice Simpson, who died March 19, 2002.
Surviving are three brothers, James (Jean) Thomas, Convoy, Carl (Mary) Thomas, Columbus, and Wayne (Connie) Thomas, Bowling Green; a brother-in-law, Donald Hellwarth, Marysville; and three sisters, Lois Joseph, Lima, Joan (Fred) Hasis, Mendon, and Eunice (Glen) Richardson, Lima.
Deceased is a sister, Jeanette Hellwarth; a sister-in-law, Mary Thomas; and a brother-in-law, Gene Joseph.
She worked as a registered nurse and head nurse of the emergency room at Lima Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Mendon United Methodist Church. She was a 1951 graduate of Mendon High and a 1956 graduate of the Lima Memorial School of Nursing.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina, the Rev. Donald Clinger officiating. Burial is at Mendon Cemetery.
