Bernard Lengerich
Bernard "Ed" Lengerich, 83, 213 Lynn St., St. Marys, died at 1:15 p.m. Jan. 1, 2008, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
He was born Jan. 30, 1924, in St. Marys, to Bernard and Elizabeth Arnett Lengerich. On May 17, 1958, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Klosterman, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, James (Roxann) and David (Carol), all of St. Marys; three daughters, Joan (Gary) Smyth, Plainfield, Ill., Margaret "Peg," Phoenix, Ariz., and Carol (Chad) Fenske, Florence, Ky.; a stepson, John (Rebecca) Petkus, Bushnell, Fla.; a sister, Elizabeth Hauenstein, Lima; and seven grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, John and Clarence; two sisters, Mary Willoughby and Loretta Lengerich; and two grandsons.
He retired as a production foreman at Crown Equipment Corp., New Bremen. A U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was a 1941 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and American Legion Post 323 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289, all of St. Marys.
Funeral Mass is 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher officiating. Burial with graveside military rites is at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Friday and 9:30-10:15 a.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys.
