CELINA - Looking down the road, the Mercer County Commissioners are contemplating one day acquiring and renovating or building a new facility to house the county's emergency medical services and emergency management agency.

  CELINA - A 45-year-old sex offender's bid for a new trial in Mercer County Common Pleas Court was denied this week after a visiting judge found there was no juror misconduct during his trial last summer.
Judge Jonathan P. Hein ruled Tuesday that attorneys for Johnathon H. Grove failed to establish that there were any "substantive discussions" between a juror and a former law clerk with previous knowledge of the case. [More]

CELINA - Mercer County Board of Elections members are on the hunt again for a new deputy director after accepting Stephanie Redfearn-Murdock's resignation at Tuesday morning's regular meeting.
ST. HENRY - St. Henry councilors this week approved the purchase of over 25 acres of land on the north end of town, setting up the possibility of future development.
WAPAKONETA - Ohio's tick population, along with the risk it poses of transmitting Lyme disease in the state, are on the rise.
That trend includes the Grand Lake region, where a delayed case of Lyme disease was diagnosed in March in Mercer County.
COLUMBUS - A Lima man has been indicted by an Allen County grand jury on a bribery charge stemming from his recent illegal-dumping case, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced Tuesday.
COLUMBUS - A free, statewide, telephone support service has been expanded to all 88 counties in Ohio, including Mercer and Auglaize counties, state officials announced Tuesday. The statewide expansion will be fully implemented by the end of June 2026.

CELINA - Legislation that would permit beekeeping in the city buzzed along to final reading with no clear opposition, but Celina City Council members
COLDWATER - Village councilors on Monday heard second reading of an ordinance increasing the cost for water and wastewater services in the village.
MARIA STEIN - Members of the Marion Local administrative staff were granted new, three-year contracts Monday night. The school board also accepted several resignations, approved hiring personnel to fill vacancies and granted new contracts to a number of teachers.
NEW BREMEN - New Bremen village councilors on Monday heard the village will purchase new equipment for more than $350,000.
During the regular meeting, councilors approved third and final reading of a resolution to replace a 1997 bucket truck for around $365,000.
BERNE, Ind. - A Berne Police officer responding to a call regarding a suspicious person was involved in a collision with an individual who was lying unconscious in the roadway Saturday, the Indiana State Police reported.
