* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 15 below zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken.

Dorothy Schneider
Dorothy R. Schneider, age 94, of Minster, died on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 10:56 A.M. at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyles Community in St. Marys where she had resided for the last few months.   She was born on December 3, 1930, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Daniel J. and Edith Ann (Shinabery) Rogers. On October 23, 1946, she married Donald F. Schneider, spending nearly 56 years together before his death on October 17, 2002.
Surviving are her daughters: Wanda Hemmelgarn of Wright City, Missouri, and Myra (Michael) Hanenkratt of Minster, and her son in-law Bill Culver of Mendon; her twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, several step great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughters and sons in-law: Linda (Dennis) Shupp, Donna Culver, Charles Hemmelgarn, a granddaughter, a great-grandson, and her brothers: Donald Rogers and Harvey Russell.
Dorothy had attended the former St. Marys Memorial High School. She was a long-time and active member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen where she was a part of the women's groups. She was also a member of the New Bremen American Legion Post 241 Auxiliary. She had worked for a number of years at Roettger Hardwood in Kettlersville before her retirement in 1992.
After retirement, she enjoyed exercising at the YMCA and was an avid reader, enjoying mystery and thriller novels. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she would always make it special with decorating, gifts, and more. She had a love for country music, and enjoyed attending the annual Country Concert in Fort Loramie with her family for many years. Dorothy will be remembered as a simple and down to earth woman, and was the glue who held her family together.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Rev. David Voll officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery near New Bremen.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the funeral home, prior to the services, from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Memorial contributions in memory of Dorothy can be made to the Everheart Hospice (1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331) or to St. Paul Church (P.O. Box 6, New Bremen, Ohio 45869).
