Catherine Dues
Catherine L. "Kate" Dues, age 100, of St. Henry, passed peacefully surrounded by her children on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born April 6, 1924, in North Star, to the late Frank & Lydia (Borches) Liette. On June 18, 1946, she married her husband Cyril Dues. Cy preceded Kate in death on June 27, 2004.
Kate is survived by three children and their spouses: Larry & Eileen Dues of St. Henry; Bonnie & John McFarland of Maria Stein; and Brenda Dues of St. Henry. Other surviving family members include nine grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, 17 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren, as well as a sister-in-law Geneva Dues of St. Henry.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kate is preceded in death by siblings and in-laws: Emerita & Andy Greer, Dorothy Schafer, Clarence & Clarine Liette, Wilfred & Ruth Liette, Norbert & Sally Liette, Hubert & Mary Liette, Rosa & Leon Hein, Loretta & Robert Stammen, Marjorie & Joe Schmidt, and an infant brother Franklin Liette, her father and mother-in-law, William Sr.& Anna Dues, as well as in-laws: William Dues Jr., Carl & Mary Kay Dues, Alice & Hollis Cromwell, Florence & Wayne Snider, Alma & Tom Osterfeld, Elvira & Don Meuret, Edgar & Mary Dues, and Mark & Shirley Dues.
Kate was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry. She began working at Buckeye Apparel in Coldwater at the age of 16, and worked there until she and Cy had their first child. She was a dedicated farm wife and loving mother. Kate enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, playing cards, and playing on her iPad. She loved the many visits from grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in the St. Henry Cemetery in St. Henry.
Friends may call on Tuesday, May 28, from 3 to 7 p.m. or on Wednesday, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice or The Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville.
