Otto Solomon
Otto "Bud" G. Solomon, 88, of Sun Lakes, Arizona passed away on March 30, 2024.
He was born to Martin G. and Martha P. Solomon (Hertenstein) on August 16, 1935 in St. Marys, Ohio. Otto went on to graduate from St. Marys Memorial High School in the class of 1953. He married his wife, Barbara Birt at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Celina, Ohio on April 23, 1955.
"Bud" had a 40-plus year career in construction, blasting, and excavation. He belonged to the Fraternal Order of the Eagles: St. Marys, Ohio; IBEW Local 245: Toledo, Ohio; Teamsters Local 786 Chicago, Illinois; Jaycees of Bolingbrook, Illinois. He was a Lionel O27 gauge master model train builder, enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, visiting with long time family friends Jim and Theora Cook, Verl and Shirley Gayer and, loved taking his grandchildren fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara J. Solomon: Sun Lakes, Arizona; son, Kirk Solomon and his husband Gregory Rehner: Los Angeles, California; daughter, Tracy Buquo (Solomon) and husband Robert: Chandler, Arizona; son, Scott Solomon and wife Michelle (Hawkins): Queen Creek, Arizona; sister, Trudy Speakman: St. Marys, Ohio; brother, Al Solomon and sister-in-law Leslie (Reineke): St. Marys, Ohio; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four nieces and eight nephews.
Otto is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah K. Poe (Solomon), Phoenix, Arizona; his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gerald and Ruth Birt (Siler), Celina, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Mike Speakman, Lawrence Kokocki, and Joseph Sestan; and sisters-in-law, Shirley Kokocki (Birt) and Karen Sestan (Birt).
