Rita Buschur
Rita (Meyer) Buschur, age 96, of North Star, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at The Gardens of Celina surrounded by family.
She was born November 24, 1926 in Mercer County, to the late Frank & Laura (Steinke) Meyer. On August 23, 1947 she married Robert L. Buschur in North Star, and he preceded her in 2013.
She is also survived by twelve children, Nicholas & Joy Buschur of Ft. Myers, Florida, Patrick & Bonnie Buschur of North Star, Joseph & Rosie Buschur of Dayton, Laura & Stan Kollars of Lima, John & Margie Buschur of Cassella, Michael & Joan Buschur of North Star, Jennifer & Ronald Thieman of Burkettsville, Nancy & Steve Broering of St. Sebastian, Jacob & Linda Buschur of North Star, Paul Buschur of San Luis Obispo, California, James & Krista Buschur of North Star and Steve & Vicki Buschur of North Star, 57 grandchildren, 137 great-grandchildren and counting, and a sister-in-law, Mary & Jack Barga of Walla Walla, Washington.
She is preceded in death by granddaughters, Rachel Lynn Buschur and Carmen Kollars, granddaughter-in-law, Holly Kollars, and siblings and in-laws, Fritz (Henry) Wenning, Paul Meyer (Georgie), JoAnn (Alvin) Bensman, Nicholas Meyer, Ralph Meyer, Noreen Meyer, Hilda (Julius) Nerderman, Marie (Irwin) Lochtefeld, Norma (Alton "Dudge") Barga, Sr. Ruth Buschur and Lucille (Eldon) Mundey.
She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church. The St. Louis Choir, CCD teacher, and the St. Ann's Ladies Sodality. She was a member of the American Legion Post 174 Ladies' Sodality, and a Hospice volunteer. She spent many years keeping the books for the family farm. Rita enjoyed playing cards with a dear group of friends. Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and was the world's best cook. Rita always took life in stride and lived a life of strong faith.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday, February 27, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry, and on Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, North Star.
Memorial contributions may be made to EverHeart Hospice or the Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville.
