Joan Neargarder
Joan Louise Neargarder age 90, of Versailles passed away at 12:06 am Thursday, July 7, 2022, at EverHeart Hospice Care Center in Greenville.
Joan was born April 2, 1932, in Sharpsburg to the late Urban & Mary (Braun) Abels.
In addition to her parents, Joan was also preceded in death by her husband, Marion J. Neargarder on May 15, 2010, whom she married May 12, 1962; siblings, Elmer (Delores) Abels, Ralph (Delores) Abels, Walter (Marceil) Abels, Eugene Abels, Mary Jane (David) Larger, Carroll Abels and Jim Abels; and in-laws, Rita (Lester) Schmitt, Donald (Flora) Neargarder, Virginia (Milliard) Sparks, Dorothy (Donald) Beers, Ilene Lange, Carl Neargarder and Anthony Nieport.
Joan is survived by her children, Karen & Tony Walter of Piqua, Roger & Lannette Neargarder of Russia and Joyce & Tom Luke of Franklin; grandchildren, Gretchen Walter & fiancé, David Casteel, Logan & Sara Neargarder, Mallory Neargarder, Tayler Neargarder and Megan & Hunter West; great-grandchildren, Larkin Neargarder, Louise Neargarder and Blair Casteel; sister, Dolores Nieport of St. Henry; brother & sister-in-law, Paul & Roberta Abels of St. Henry; sisters-in-law, Nancy Abels of Ft. Recovery, Marlene Abels of Ft. Recovery and Ruth Neargarder of Coldwater; brother-in-law, Leroy Lange of St. Henry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joan was a homemaker and formerly worked at Stucke Farms in Frenchtown. Joan was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at St. Denis Catholic Church in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Ned Brown celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Valbert Cemetery, Versailles.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 am at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
