Arlene Warner
Arlene Warner, 91, of rural Wapakoneta, passed away at 8:45 a.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born on November 27, 1930 in Wapakoneta, to Leslie H. and Adelia E. Stoll Phillips who have preceded her in death. On November, 12, 1950 she married her high school sweetheart, Kermit O. Warner, who passed away on October 27, 2009.
Survivors include her two daughters, Pat (Tom) Wittenbrink, of Wapakoneta, and Priscilla (Dave) Slusser, of Celina; five grandchildren, Christina (John) Oakley, Dale (Debra) Wittenbrink, Daniel (Nicole) Wittenbrink, Christine (Scott) Schroer, Steven (Julie) Slusser; 14 great-grandchildren, Emma, Caleb, Tobiah, and Isaiah Wittenbrink, Maren, Maxon, and Melody Wittenbrink, Bryson, Brayden, Braxton, and Bristol Schroer, and Emily and Lucas Slusser, with one more on the way; and her brother, Valgene (Janet) Phillips, of Wapakoneta; and an extended family of nieces and nephews.
Arlene was baptized into Salem United Methodist Church, making her the third generation of members in her family. Her family now has six generations of membership at the church. She was a 1948 graduate of New Knoxville High School, where she was a cheerleader and her sweetheart, Kermit, was on the basketball team. Although they didn't win at the State Championship, they were blessed with almost 59 years of marriage. Following graduation, she attended beauty school, working at Vesta's in Wapakoneta, before opening her own shop, the Magic Mirror.
Kermit and Arlene were avid travelers, taking their motorhome all over the country and flying overseas. They created cedar signs together, Kermit doing the wood carving and Arlene doing the painting, and loved playing pegs & jokers. In her free time, she enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, playing dominoes, cross-stitching and knitting. Arlene could also be found working in her garden or hunting morel mushrooms. She loved cooking and watching her daytime tv game shows.
