Anna Ramsey
Anna Jean"AJ." Ramsey, age 96, passed away May 29, 2021.
Born on August 20, 1925 to Jesse and Goldie Piehl, she grew up in Ohio in the midst of the Great Depression. One of two surviving children, she learned the value of hard work and the importance of family from a young age.
Anna Jean married Paul Ramsey on February 8, 1948 and they moved to Miami, FL not long after they were wed.
Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis not long after her second child and only son was born, Anna Jean still fought to maintain an active lifestyle. She rarely complained of discomfort or disability of any kind, and so few knew of the breadth of her condition. Anna Jean was an avid golfer, seamstress, and doting mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She adored chocolate fudge sundaes.
Anna Jean is survived by her daughter, Dr. Sharon (Howard) Hunter and son, Bruce Ramsey, as well as 5 grandchildren: Shannon, Anna, Carley, Courtney, and John, 6 great grandchildren, and her sister, Mary Lou Merck and her children, Alan Merck and Diane Merck. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
A funeral service for Anna Jean will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home; 635 E. Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, FL. Interment will be at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Punta Gorda, FL.
