Sandra Vorhees
Sandra C. Vorhees, age 86, of Celina, passed away Friday, February 26, 2021, at Miller Place in Celina.
Born January 30, 1935, in Celina, Sandy was the daughter of the late Leon H. & Schula L. (Beams) Hatfield. Sandy and Jack D. Vorhees were married on June 29, 1953, and he preceded her in death February 3, 2017.
Surviving is their daughter, Cheryl (Curtis) Snider, son, Allan "Rusty" (Ann) Vorhees, and her brother, Steve Hatfield, all of Celina, four grandsons: Matthew (Jen) Snider of Fort Worth, TX, Greg Snider of Celina, Douglas (Alyssa) Vorhees of Centerville, and Nathan Vorhees of Celina, three great-grandchildren: Lucy Julianne & Maggie Leigh Vorhees of Centerville, and Kyler Snider of Fort Worth, sister-in-law, Karen (Mike) Bryant of Bridgman, MI, and numerous nieces & nephews. Sandy also leaves behind her beloved dog, Buddy Lee.
Preceding her in death were Jack's parents: Russel & Goldie (Silvers) Vorhees, and his brothers & sisters: Onalee (Melvin) Monroe, Virgil (Maxine) Vorhees, Irene (Claude) Goodpaster, Doris West, Betty (Ermon) Huston, Norma (Calvin) Smitley, Helen (Robert) Sneddon, and Pat (Bud) Shivley.
Sandy was a 1953 graduate of Celina High School. Years ago, she had worked at the Sears Catalog Store in Celina. In 1969, Sandy and her husband, Jack established the Westside Carryout in Celina.
She retired after working for many years as secretary at Grand Lake United Methodist Church (St. Paul's Campus) in Celina. Sandy was an active member of St. Paul's, having served on the funeral dinner committee and helping wherever needed.
She was a member of the Mercer County Harness Horsemen's Association. Her husband Jack and son Rusty were avid harness horsemen, who over the years, raced many horses at the fair. Sandy enjoyed following their races locally, and their annual trip to the Little Brown Jug in Delaware County.
Sandy belonged to the Celina Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #91, and the Red Hat Society. She was a fan of The Young and the Restless TV show and Ohio State sports.
Sandy took pride in her yard, and spent much time mowing and taking care of her flowers and plants. She also enjoyed reading and spending time playing cards with her family.
Sandy was very creative and artistic, and had many interests, including drawing and painting. She was also skilled in needlework, sewing, knitting and crocheting.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, with Rev. Diane Mendelson, officiating. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina.
Calling Hours are 3:00 - 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, and an hour before Services on Wednesday, at the Funeral Home. Those attending are required to wear masks, practice social distancing as much as possible, and follow the COVID-19 guidelines established by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health.

or Grand Lake United Methodist Church.
