Alice Post
Alice B. Post, age 84, of St. Henry and formerly of Wendelin, died Friday January 24, 2020, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
She was born August 17, 1935, in St. Rose to the late John and Eleanor (Schmitmeyer) Homan. On Sept. 5, 1956, she married Alvin Post, and he died July 2, 2009.
Alice is survived by children, Bernice & John Reichert of Maria Stein, Ivo & Linda Post of Maria Stein, Patty Uhlenhake of Coldwater, Jerry & Joretta Post of St. Henry, Chuck & Kathy Post of Fort Recovery, Sally Post, of St. Henry, Angie & Paul Mangen of Versailles, and Mary Jo & Brett Beatty of Jamestown. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, as well as siblings and in-laws: Pauline Timmerman of Coldwater, Louise Homan of St. Rose, Joan Post of St. Henry, Mary Faller of New Weston, and Leon Vondrell of Fort Recovery.
In addition to her parents and husband Alvin, Alice is preceded in death by a son-in-law Marvin Uhlenhake, a granddaughter Amy Reichert, and siblings and in-laws: Dennis Homan, Melvin Timmerman, Rita & Herman Nerderman, Eugene & Esther Post, Gregor & Esther Post, Agnes & Paul Fullenkamp, Alma & Orville Ranly, Zita & Henry Drees, Zeno & Delores Post, Ben Post, Hugo & Norma Post, Rosaline Vondrell, and Jim Faller.
Alice was a devoted farm wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, and was well known for cooking wedding meals for many years. Her family especially loved her homemade cinnamon "grandma" rolls and bread. She was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Wendelin, and the Ladies Sodality.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 29, at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Wendelin. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Friends may call on Tuesday, January 28, 3:00-8:00 p.m. and 9:00-10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care or the Cancer Association of Mercer County.
