Betty Monroe
Betty Jean Monroe, 89, Saint Marys, died suddenly on Saturday, October 13, 2018, in the emergency department of Joint Twp. District Memorial Hospital.
She was born January 16, 1929, in Saint Marys, the daughter of Oliver and Clara (Houser) Ruwoldt. She married Bill Monroe on April 10, 1948, he preceded her in death on December 31, 1981.
She is survived by her children: Terry (Susan) Monroe of Saint Marys; ;Timothy (Brenda) Monroe of Mendon; Jeff (LuAnn) Monroe of Wapakoneta; Marisa (Scott) Jarvis of Van Wert. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings: Leonard (Shirley) Ruwoldt of Wapakoneta; Mary Alice McDermitt of Saint Marys.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant child.
Betty was a 1949 graduate of Saint Marys Memorial High School. She was a homemaker, and she loved taking care of all kinds of animals, especially cats and possums in her neighborhood. She will be remembered for her great sense of humor and kindness to her friends.
Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 18, 2018, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Auglaize County Humane Society.
