Joy Homan
Joy A. Homan, 89, of rural St. Marys, OH died 12:45 p.m. Saturday July 7, 2018 at Otterbein-St. Marys.
She was born November 12, 1928 in St. Henry, OH to Leon and Laura (Alt) Buschur. On November 22, 1947 she married Levern A. Homan at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Philothea, OH. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2007.
Survivors include: son Mike (Chris) Homan of St. Marys, OH; son Larry (Vicki) Homan of St. Marys, OH; daughter Sondra (David) Hughes of St. Marys, OH; daughter Cindy Homan of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Kristy (Tim) Eiting of New Bremen, OH; daughter Lisa Berg of Phoenix, AZ; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brother Ron (Connie) Buschur of Philothea, OH; in-laws: James Homan of Coldwater, OH; Eugene Reinhart of Bryant, IN; Verena Goettemoeller of Rockford, OH and Jean Homan of Angola, IN.
Preceded in death by: parents Leon and Laura Buschur; husband Levern Homan; granddaughter Dawn Hughes; brother Gene Buschur; sister Pat Jutte; in-laws: Jeannie Buschur, Maurice Jutte, Marvin and Mary Lou Homan, Leonard and Esther Link, Harold and Luella Homan, Robert Homan, Harry and Alvera Massonne, Al and Mary Luebke, Alvin Goettemoeller, Thelma Homan, Luella Reinhart and Ivo and Betty Homan.
She was a graduate of Coldwater High School (Class of 1947). Joy was a homemaker and farm wife. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys.
She enjoyed tending her flowers and vegetable gardens. Cooking and baking for her family gave her much pleasure. She loved working with her hands and her talents included crocheting, knitting, painting, tatting and sewing. Joy also enjoyed writing poetry and sharing it with others.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin 10:30 a.m. Friday July 13, 2018 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial will follow at the Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 5-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:15 a.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys.
