Cavaliers sweep conference titles

The Coldwater boys and girls bowling teams swept the West Ohio High School Bowling Conference championships after winning divisional playoff matches on Saturday at Westgate Lanes in Lima.
The Cavalier boys, who won the South Division, dueled with North Division winner Wapakoneta. When the final ball was rolled, Coldwater edged Wapakoneta 3,184 to 3,181 to win the outright conference crown. Jason Wenning led Coldwater with the high game of the day of 268. Teammate Caden Seitz rolled a 267, as did Celina's Nate Langenkamp and Minster's Seth Reeves.
In the girls' final, Coldwater cruised to a 2,650-2,402 win over St. Marys. Paige Hartings led Coldwater with a 215 game.
Versailles' Jamee Brown had the high game of the day with a 228. Wapakoneta's Britni Hosterman rolled a 225.
The Division II state bowling tournament begins this week with sectional play at Community Lanes in Minster. The girls will bowl Friday and the boys compete on Saturday. Celina will start its postseason in the Division I tournament Feb. 24 and 25.
