Katy Perez
Katy May (Stroh) Perez, mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend to many and loved by all, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 3:18 p.m. of pancreatic cancer at her home surrounded by her family. She was 33 years old, and while young, her life was a tapestry of family, friends, fun and love.
Katy was born on a Thursday; April 29, 1982 to Donald Stroh and Peggy (Scott) Rabatin in St. Marys, Ohio. She was the baby, the third of three children. She was daddy's little girl and deeply adored her mother. With her brothers, she respected Luke's advice and had an immense bond with Nathan.
Being the baby, Katy found her voice to stand out. Katy was opinionated on many topics and had no qualms sharing her thoughts on any subject. She was fiercely loyal and loved deeply. Her signature look was that of the tough girl. Even through her rough and tough exterior, one could catch glimpses of her soft side. She was a free spirit who marched to the beat of her own drum.
As a child, Katy was never a girly girl but Katy's mom dolled her up for many years until Katy ditched those dresses to express her personality through wild, colorful clothing! She had a love for shoes, purses and had more makeup, perfume and hair product than a Saks Fifth Avenue model.
Though she lived deep in Buckeye Nation, Katy was a devout Michigan Wolverines fan. A lover of cats, butterflies, the color purple and appointments with her stylist for the latest cut & color. More than anything, there was nothing she loved more than time spent with Jason fishing on a warm, sunny afternoon.
Katy was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 2000). She was a model friend and excelled at making her time in high school fun. Most recently she was employed as a customer service representative for Com-Net in Wapakoneta, Ohio where she was gifted at putting smiles on the faces of the customers that had the privilege to talk to her.
Katy found the love of her life, Jason Perez, at a concert over ten years ago and they wed on September 20, 2013 in Wapakoneta, Ohio. Katy always wanted a baby of her own and on January 29, 2016 they welcomed their first daughter, Marley Sue Perez, into the world.
Katy had so much love from family, friends, and many supporters during her life. She is survived by her soulmate, Jason Perez, and beloved daughter, Marley Sue Perez of Wapakoneta, OH; father Donald (Tamme Posada) Stroh of St. Marys, OH; mother Peggy (Glenn) Rabatin of St. Marys, OH; brothers Luke (Jessica) Stroh of Ft. Wayne, IN and Nathan (Stephanie) Stroh of Van Wert, OH; father-in-law Max (Carolyn) Perez of Uniopolis, OH; mother-in-law Marcia Perez of Lima, OH; grandparents-in-law Melvin (Eileen) Werling of Moulton, OH; brother-in-law Jacob Perez of Lima, OH; sister-in-law Jessica Perez of Lima, OH; sister-in-law Jennifer Perez of Lima, OH; step-grandmother Mary Ellen Scott of Anaheim, CA and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather Richard Stroh, and grandmother Esther Stroh of St. Marys, OH; grandfather Gerald Scott of Anaheim, CA and grandmother Sue Jutte of St. Marys, OH.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home (314 W. High Street St. Marys, OH).
Rites are scheduled to begin 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2016 with calling beginning at 12:00 p.m. at Miller-Long & Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, with Fr. Mark Hoying, officiating. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery in St. Marys.
