Mary Zimmerman
Mary J. Zimmerman, 79, St. Marys, OH died 11:06 p.m. Wednesday September 30, 2015 at Lima Memorial Health System.
She was born May 11, 1936 in Minster, OH to Edgar and Bernadine (Koverman) Helmsing. On January 5, 1957 in Minster, OH she married Floyd Zimmerman, who survives.
Also survived by: son Steven (Gretchen) Zimmerman of Celina, OH; son Tom (Cheryl) Zimmerman of St. Marys, OH; daughter Susan Zimmerman of St. Marys, OH; daughter Lori (Todd) Poppe of St. Marys, OH; 6 grandchildren: Michael (Trina) Zimmerman, Jessica Stapleton, Tommy Zimmerman, Jake Zimmerman, Allie Zimmerman, Kristy Lykins; 9 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: parents Edgar and Bernadine Helmsing; daughter Joann Marie Zimmerman; sister Martha Sadler.
She was a 1954 graduate of Minster High School. She was a homemaker and retired from Valley Nursing Home in St. Marys, where she worked in the housekeeping department for many years.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys. Her favorite pastimes included playing bingo, and traveling with her husband.
Mary will be remembered as very energetic and hard-working. The Christmas holiday was always a special time for her. She enjoyed all the preparations, decorating, cooking and most of all - opening presents!
Rites are scheduled to begin 11:00 a.m. Monday October 5, 2015 at Miller Funeral Home 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel) in St. Marys, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte, officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, in St. Marys.
Visitation 2 – 4 and 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.
