Roger Minnich
Roger L. Minnich 79, Saint  Marys, Ohio, died 8:00 P.M. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at his residence.
He was born August 13, 1936, the son of Herschel Minnich and Eva Buffenbarger. Roger was adopted by, and raised by his grandparents, Willis and Elizabeth Minnich. He married Florene Ferguson on October 14, 1957, in Tuscon, Arizona. She survives at the residence.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle (David) LaPoint of Saint Marys; a granddaughter, Amber (Lee) Dotson of Saint Marys; his great-grandsons Xaine LaPoint, Bradlee Dotson, Gaige Dotson and Layne Dotson, all of Saint Marys. He is survived by his daughters of the heart Deb (Buddy) Vining of Saint Marys; Kathy (John) Sampson of Saint Marys; Annette Alexander of Saint Marys; Tonya Bayman of Saint Marys; Gail (Randy) Smith of Celina. Roger is survived by his grandchildren of the heart Jeremy (Rhianne) Vining of Saint Marys; Amanda (Darren) Demange of Saint Marys; Elizabeth Sampson of Saint Marys, and by his great-grandchildren of the heart, Daine Maxe-White of Saint Marys; Jocelyn and Arabella Vining of Saint Marys; Eli Demange of Saint Marys. Other survivors include his step-mother, Barbara Minnich of Celina; his siblings Anthony Minnich of Lebanon, Tennessee; Patty (Jon) Harrod Celina; Mike Minnich of Saint Marys; Phillip Minnich of Saint Marys; Tammy Minnich of Saint Marys, Kris Grant of Saint Marys, Bruce Minnich of Saint Marys, Lisa (Scott) Grant of Saint Marys, and their families. He is survived by his aunts and uncles Paul Minnich of Degraff, Betty Place of Buckland, Shirley Satterfield of Fairborn, Sisters-in-law Julia Minnich of Wapakoneta and Leona Minnich of Urbana. He is survived by a close nephew, Tim (Pam) Minnich of Saint Marys.
   Roger was preceded in death by his father, Herschel Minnich; mother Eva Buffenbarger Shields; his son, David Minnich; daughter Teresa Ann Minnich; granddaughters Angela Dee and Andrea Lee LaPoint. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jim Shields and Donnie Minnich. He was preceded in death by his uncles Neal (Edna) Minnich, Russel (Melinda) Minnich and Warren Minnich; by aunts Treva (Olaf) Jervis, Helen (Richard) Fisher, Lewis Minnich, Flossie Minnich, Delpha Minnich and Gayle Satterfield, and by a nephew, Zach Williard.
   Roger was a 1954 graduate of Waynesfield High School. He retired from the United States Air Force as a TSgt and did many tours of duty around the globe, including Vietnam, Korea, Guam, and Iran. He attended Amarillo College. He enjoyed woodworking, playing bingo, growing roses, and watching professional wrestling with his grandchildren. He was a member of VFW Post 9289.
   Funeral rites will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 11, 2015, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Saint Marys, Ohio. Burial rites with military honors will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery, Saint Marys.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
