Janet Pape
Janet C. Pape, 62, Celina, and formerly of New Bremen, died at 9:55 p.m. July 15, 2013, at Mercer County Community Health Center. She won her battle with cancer in her own way and on her own terms.
She was born Dec. 24, 1950, in Celina, the daughter of Virgil and Jean Grothaus Lampert. She married her loving husband John Pape on Nov. 22, 1973, at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. He survives at the residence.
Also surviving are her children, Renee (Shane) Homan of New Bremen, Chris (Janel) Pape of New Bremen and Kelli (Ryan) Heckman of New Bremen; eight grandchildren, Alex and Chloe Homan, Ella, Allyson and Brady Pape, and Austin, Brandi and Tyler Heckman, all of New Bremen; her siblings, Jerry (Marilyn) Fogt of Wellington, Fla., Rex Fogt of Whitehouse, Jim (Elaine) Lampert of New Bremen, Lee (Shelly) Lampert of Tipp City, Jim (Donna) Pape of New Bremen, Jeff (Kathy) Pape of New Bremen; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her parents; her in-laws, Paul and Margaret Pape; and a sister-in-law, Sue Fogt.
Janet was a 1968 graduate of New Bremen High School, and a graduate of Cosmetology School. She retired from Otterbein Retirement Community in St. Marys, where she had been a cosmetologist. She was an active and faithful member of the New Knoxville United Methodist Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. When she retired in 2010, she was able to enjoy the things she loved like traveling, camping and spending time with her grandkids, family and friends.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at the New Knoxville United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dennis Gaertner officianting. Burial will follow at German Protestant Cemetery.
Calling is 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home in St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to New Knoxville United Methodist Church, Mercer County Cancer Association or State of the Heart Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home in New Knoxville.
