Leo Helentjaris
Leo Helentjaris, 89, Celina, died 1:20 a.m. March 28, 2013, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 13, 1923, in Dayton, to Thomas and Lillian Bailey Helentjaris. On Aug. 30, 1947, he married Henrietta White, who died April 25, 2012.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Brenda) Helentjaris, Hoenwald, Tenn., and David (Linda) Helentjaris, Celina; a daughter, Linda (Charles) Creiglow, Thompkinsville, Ky.; and a sister, Lillian Vann, Dayton.
Also deceased are a son, Paul Chris Helentjaris; a grandson, Corbin; a sister, Helen; and four brothers, Luvern, George, Homer and Thomas Helentjaris.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II and was retired from Huffy after 40 years of service. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Celina, the Celina American Legion and St. John's Builders.
He coached little league baseball for 15 years and helped start the little league football program in 1960.
Graveside services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercer Memory Gardens, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer and Jeff Gramza officiating. Military rites will be performed by Celina VFW and the American Legion.
A gathering of family and friends will follow the services at the church's Family Life Center.
Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, is handling the arrangements.
