Jerry Salyers
Jerry A. Salyers, 64, Celina, and formerly of Dayton and Fort Recovery, died March 30, 2013, at his home.
He was born Feb. 12, 1949, in Paintsville, Ky., to Alvin and Neva D. Gullett Salyers. His mother survives in Dayton. On June 29, 1969, he married Sandra Taylor, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Lori (Dr. David) Rohrer of Fort Recovery; two sisters, Rose Jeffries of Huber Heights and Paula Salyers of Huber Heights; two brothers, Gary "Mike" Salyers of Huber Heights and John Salyers of Huber Heights; three grandchildren, Natalie, Sara and Emma Rohrer, all of Fort Recovery; brothers and sisters-in-law, William (Faye) Taylor of New Castle, Ind., James (Patricia) Taylor of Beavercreek, Jack (Mindy) Taylor of Celina, Richard (Kristy) Taylor of Beavercreek, Rosemary Taylor of Dayton and Marilyn (Larry) Childs of Muncie, Ind.
Deceased is a brother, Billy Salyers.
He retired in 1997 from Harrison Radiator (GM) of Dayton. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, Fort Recovery, the Rev. Dennis Kelly officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene, Fort Recovery.
Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
Memorials may be given to the Cancer Association of Mercer County or State of the Heart Hospice.
