Kasich said his education overhaul would level playing field for districts

Local superintendents are cautiously optimistic about Gov. John Kasich's school funding plan overhaul that he said levels the playing field for all schools.
Officials in the Grand Lake area heard Kasich introduce his new funding plan he calls "Achievement Everywhere" during a meeting Thursday in Columbus held for all state school superintendents. He later discussed the plan during an online town hall meeting. [More]
Former baby sitter to serve 13 years for all charges

Tamara "Tammy" Evers, a St. Henry woman implicated in the 2008 death of an infant in her care, received a one-year reduction in her prison sentence Thursday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
The 48-year-old Evers was transported from the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville to Celina for re-sentencing in accordance with a ruling from the Third District Court of Appeals. [More]

FORT RECOVERY - It's never dull when Minster's girls basketball team visits Fort Site Fieldhouse every other season for their Midwest Athletic Conference matchup against Fort Recovery.
It was a back-and-forth matchup for 32 minutes but Minster took the lead for good with 34 seconds left in the game and went on to defeat Fort Recovery 43-40 on Thursday night at Fort Site Fieldhouse. [More]
