* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Rev. Marvin Steffes
Rev. Marvin Steffes, C.PP.S., 80, Carthagena, died Aug. 29, 2011, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Feb. 14, 1931, in Detroit, Mich. to Lawrence and Anna Schumaker Steffes. He entered the Missionaries of the Precious Blood in 1949 and was ordained in 1958.
Surviving are three sisters, Madelynn Myers, Roseville, Mich., Thelma Shepherd, Warren, Mich., and Rosalie (Gordon) Britten, Jackson, Mich.; two brothers, Howard Steffes, Troy, Mich., Lawrence Steffes Jr., Lansing, Mich.; a sister-in-law, Elaine Steffes, Clinton Township, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Norman; a sister, LaDoris Neumann; a sister-in-law, Carol Steffes; and three brothers-in-law, John Myers, Ronald Shepherd and William Neumann.
He was involved in parish ministry, teaching and administration. After a year at his home parish, St. Anthony in Detroit, he became an assistant pastor at St. Marys, Cincinnati; then 10 years in education, teaching at Carroll High School, Dayton, and later serving as principal at Cardinal Newman High School, Santa Rosa, Calif.
A member of the Province of the Pacific, he was elected councilor and named treasurer in 1970. In 1974, he was elected provincial director.
In 1978, he became chaplain at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, California, and returned to parish ministry in 1979. He moved to St. Charles Center in 2008.
Funeral Mass is 2 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Center, the Very Rev. Larry Hemmelgarn officiating. The Rev. Thomas Beischel will be the homilist. Burial will follow in the Community Cemetery.
Calling is 1-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the center, with a wake service at 7 p.m., by the Rev. Vince Hoying.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Edward Catholic Church, Newark, Calif., at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Jeffrey Keyes officiating. The Rev. James Franck will be the homilist.
