Linus Schulze
Linus H. Schulze, 85, New Bremen, died at 12:45 p.m. March 11, 2011, at his home.
He was born Oct. 7, 1925, in Osgood to John and Agatha Streaker Schulze. On June 18, 1947, he married Bernadetta Riethman, who survives.
Also surviving are six sons, Roger (Treva) Schulze, Huntsville, Ron (Linda) Schulze, Montezuma, and Dennis (Pam) Schulze, Tom Schulze, Steven (Carla) Schulze, all of New Bremen, and Allan (Tash) Schulze, Montezuma; four brothers, Alvin Schulze, St. Marys, Walter (Dolores) Schulze, Osgood, Erwin (Eileen) Schulze, Cassella, and Victor (Judy) Schulze, McCartyville; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Margaret Dircksen; and three brothers, Elmer, Leander and Wilbert Schulze.
He was a member of the Church of the Holy Redeemer in New Bremen. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 588 of Osgood and the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391 of Minster. He served stateside with an arms supply unit in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from the former New Idea Corporation in Coldwater after 34 years of service. He also was a farmer.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Mannebach officiating. Burial is at German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. today at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen and 9:30-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A rosary will be prayed at the church.
