Leona C. Hansel
Leona C. Hansel, 79, Mendon, died Jan. 28, 2011, at her residence.
She was born April 27, 1931, in Delhart, Texas, to Edward and Amelia (Fark) Harjehausen. On Aug. 22, 1953, she married Claude Hansel, who died June 1, 1998.
Survivors include a son, Tim Hansel, Celina; two daughters, Nancy (Darrell) Etgen, Mendon, and Kay Hansel; a sister, Lucille Draving, Beavercreek; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Harjehausen.
She and her husband owned Hansel's Recreation in Mendon for 36 years. She also worked at Celina Insurance Group and in the office of the Mercer County Council on Aging.
She was a graduate of New Bremen High School and was a member of Mendon First Church of God, where she was a Sunday school teacher, deaconess and treasurer of the Women's Christian Service Council.
Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at W.H. Dick and Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home and 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mercer County Council on Aging or Mendon First Church of God.
