Norman Schnelle
Norman Schnelle, 93, 401 W. South St., New Knoxville, died Sept. 24, 2009, at The Gardens of Wapakoneta.
He was born Feb. 9, 1916, in New Knoxville to Henry and Edna Eschmeyer Schnelle. On June 9, 1942, he married Olga Vohs, who died March 2, 2007.
Survivors are a brother, Kermit Schnelle, Waynesfield; six nieces and a nephew.
Deceased are two sisters, Zippora Aufderhaar and Alfreda Vohs; two brothers, Virgil and Myron Schnelle; and a sister-in-law, Louanna Schnelle.
He retired from the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys. A 1936 graduate of New Knoxville High School, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II who fought in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of The Bulge. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ and American Legion, both of New Knoxville, and the New Knoxville Gun Club.
Services are 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. Dr. David Williams officiating. Burial with military rites is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville.
Calling is after 1 p.m. Sunday in the Heritage Room of the church.
Arrangements were handled by Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home, New Knoxville.
