Esther Buel
Esther Jeanette Buel, 94, of Rockford, died at 6:20 a.m. Aug. 19, 2009, at Colonial Nursing Home, Rockford.
She was born July 29, 1915, in Scott to Charles and Opal Ransbottom Rhoades. She had lived with her grandparents, Elijah and Frances Robinson Rhoades, following the death of her parents. On June 3, 1938, she married Brooks Buel, who died Dec. 22, 2003.
Surviving are a son, Rex (Ann) Buel, Waynesboro, Va.; five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
Deceased is a son, Donald E. Buel, and two grandchildren.
She worked at TuWay Company, Rockford until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the New Horizons Community Church, Rockford, and an auxiliary member of Gideons International. She graduated from Rockford High School in 1932.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Marvin Schwartz officiating. Burial is at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Friday and one hour prior to service Saturday at the church.
