Rockford woman stole pain patches from nursing home residents

A former nurse's aide admitted Friday morning in Mercer County Common Pleas Court that she took pain-relieving patches - Fentanyl - from two nursing home residents.
Ashley M. McCarthy, 26, 155 E. Walnut St., Rockford, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft of a dangerous drug. As part of a negotiated agreement, the state agreed to drop seven additional theft charges. [More]

Brett Riley, 42, faces six felony counts in drug-related death
Brett Riley, who faces numerous felony charges stemming from the drug-related death of his wife, made an initial appearance in Mercer County Common Pleas Court on Friday afternoon - a day after grand jurors returned a six-count indictment.
