Hilda Bower
Hilda L. Bower, 97, of Rockford and formerly of Cincinnati, died at 9:15 p.m. March 11, 2009, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
She was born Aug. 31, 1911, in Cincinnati, to William Milton and Dora Betz Lewis. On Jan. 31, 1995, she married Cecil R. Bower, who died Feb. 20, 2007.
Surviving are a daughter, Marty (the Rev. Mike) Berne, Rockford; a brother, William Lewis, Cincinnati; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother, Elmer Lewis; and three sisters, Dorothy Keller, Ruth Sebastiani and Mildred Siebenthaler.
She was a church secretary for many years in the Cincinnati area and was a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Maplewood of Shane's Village, Rockford, the Rev. Mike Berne officiating. Burial is at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
