Sharon Medford
Sharon Ann Medford, 69, of Salem, died at 11 p.m. June 1, 2008. Death was due to cancer.
She was born April 4, 1939, in Perrysburg, to Karl and Lucille Kazmeier Williams. Her mother survives in Perrysburg. On Sept. 4, 1960, she married the Rev. William Medford, who also survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Michael (Karen), Atlanta, Ga., and Matthew (Marcy), Boston, Mass.; two daughters, Margot (Bruce) Wuebbens, Durham, N.C., and Anne (Martin) Pipho, Arvada, Co.; two brothers, Duane Williams, Golden, Colo., and Dan Williams, Maumee; a sister, Barb Gosnell, Clyde; and ten grandchildren.
She had been the pianist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Washingtonville, was very active in the Salem community, where she helped to design and establish the gardens at the Burchfield Homestead Museum, was a driver for Meals on Wheels. In May, 1961, She earned her bachelor's degree in social work from Capital University in Columbus. She served on the Salem School Board and taught Parent Effectiveness Training classes at various churches in Northeastern Ohio. In addition, she served as a Sunday school teacher, church choir and music director at a number of Lutheran churches in Ohio.
Services are 11 a.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Salem, the Revs. John Gruneich and Bill Wilkins officiating.
Calling is Friday one hour prior to the service in the church vestibule.
Contributions can be made to Camp Frederick, Rogers, the Burchfield Homestead Society, the Trinity Lutheran Church, Washingtonville, or the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Salem.
Arbaugh Pearce Greenisen Funeral Home, Salem, is in charge of arrangements.
