CLAYTON - Celina's battery of Laura Homan and Kinzie Gardner were sick with the flu all week long, but it didn't show in their play during the Division II regional semifinal on Thursday.
Homan and Gardner sparked Celina to a surprisingly easy 10-0 six-inning win over Mount Orab Western Brown at Northmont High School, pushing the Bulldogs to the regional final. [More]

HUBER HEIGHTS - The Parkway Panthers are one win away from making their third trip to state in school history after blanking the Newton Indians by a score of 5-0 Thursday at Wayne High School.
The Panthers, now 18-6 on the year, will play Triad (18-9) Saturday for the Division IV regional championship and a shot at playing at the state level next week in Akron. [More]

Jamison D. Godfrey pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in Mercer County Common Pleas Court to charges stemming from an April 27 altercation that allegedly resulted in the death of his unborn child.
Five Mercer County municipalities have applied for this year's round of funding for the 2008 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).
But this year's amount of funding has dropped to $99,000 from last year's $101,000. In 2005, the total amount of money available was $115,000.
