Adrian Gariety
Former Wapakoneta and Shelby County resident Adrian J. Gariety, 91, died at 10:15 p.m. Dec. 11, 2007, at Versailles Health Care Center.
He was born March 24, 1916, in Shelby County, to Julius and Theresa Monnin Gariety. On Oct. 14, 1939, he married Bernadine Henke, who died Dec. 1, 1999.
Survivors are three sons, Roger (Roberta), Houston, Bill (Teresa), Wapakoneta, and Adrian Jr. "Pete" (Jane), Jackson Center; three daughters, Norma (Ivo) Homan, Cassella, Shirley (John) Borchers, Tipp City, and Mary (Mike) Holthaus, Sidney; a sister, Virginia Drees, Fort Loramie; two sisters-in-law, Marie, Russia, and Frances, Piqua; 24 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are an infant daughter, Mary; three brothers, Norbert, Robert and James; and a sister, Thelma Marchal.
He was a retired farmer and employee of the former New Idea plant, Coldwater. He was a member of the National Farmers Organization and a former member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Steven Shoup officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
