Melvin Bergman
Melvin F. Bergman, 82, of Newport, died at 11:30 p.m. Jan. 13, 2007, at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, after a pedestrian accident.
He was born Sept. 23, 1924, in Newport, to Frank and Frances Broerman Bergman. On Oct. 21, 1953, he married Viola A. Siegel, who died March 9, 1988.
Survivors are three sons, Timothy (Teresa), Jeffrey (Edith) and Frank, all of Newport; a daughter, Cheryl (Neil) McGreevy, Newport; two brothers, Edwin, of Piqua, and Oscar, of Minster; a sister, Mildred Barlage, Minster; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
He retired after 36 years at Stolle Inc., Sidney. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport; Newport Sportsman's Club; American Legion Post 355, Fort Loramie; and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2347, Versailles.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Glenn Perrin officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
