James Dabbelt
James B. "Jim" Dabbelt born March 20, 1942 to Nobert and Patricia Dabbelt died November 2, 2026. He is survived by his wife Barbara C. (Kerns) Dabbelt.
Survivors include 3 daughters Cindi (John) Hoggard, Trisha (Yianni) Pimenidis, Beth (Patrick) Thorsen, a son Brian (Katie) Dabbelt; grandchildren Jack, Katherine, and Jed Hoggard, Alexander and Christopher Pimenidis, Ellis, Liam, and Isak Thorsen, Harrison and Annabelle Dabbelt.
He was preceded in death by a son Deny Dabbelt.
Jim was a graduate of Coldwater High School class of '60 and Miami Jacobs College with a degree in Accounting. He was married to Barbe for 62 years and was an active member of Immaculate Conception parish. He raised 5 children and sold Real Estate for 6 decades in Mercer County.
Jim founded the Wally Post Golf Open and The Cast for a Cure, both of which raised money for the American Cancer Society. He was instrumental in bringing the Governors Cup Regatta to Celina. He was active in the Lake Development Committee and Lake Restoration Committee. Jim was responsible for lighting the church spires at Immaculate Conception and enjoyed evening boat rides to view them from the lake.
A devoted husband, father, and Papa he taught all of his children and grandchildren how to fish. His best days were spent fishing, playing, and boating on Grand Lake especially with his grandkids. Truly his greatest love was his wife and he never hesitated to let everyone know she was the brains and the beauty, he was just the brawn.
Jim is well known for his sense of humor, his one-liners, and his masterful story telling ability. The smallest event turned into an outlandish adventure once Jim got a hold of it. What will be remembered most by family, friends, and colleagues is that Jim was always there when you needed him. He will be greatly missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church with burial following at St. Marys Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends may visit from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Cancer Association of Mercer County, donations possible online at camc-ohio.org, and all stories about Jim are appreciated!
