Hiking into fall
Submitted Photo

Nature lovers and autumn lovers can enjoy the changing colors and test their tree I.D. skills this month with a new self-guided tour at the Dr. Elizabeth Yahl Kuffner Nature Preserve just north of St. Marys. The 15.8-acre wooded preserve includes a grove of pawpaw trees as well as the official state tree, the Ohio Buckeye. Interpretive signage will be located along the trail for the entire month of October to help visitors identify tree species and learn fun facts about each one. The boardwalk trail surface is perfect for all ages and hiking abilities, and leashed pets are welcome. The preserve is part of the Heritage Trails Park District and is located at 14840 County Road 66A, St. Marys.
