The beans were hearty, the competition was fierce and the slipper-kicking competition was apparently dangerous at this year's 127th Durbin Bean Bake. The annual Labor Day tradition, dating back to 1898, brought crowds out to the wooded 5-acre Durbin Park on Erastus-Durbin Road in Celina to participate in over 60 different competitions, devour some delicious food, enjoy some good old-fashioned family fun and honor local veterans. The day also featured a kiddie tractor pull, petting zoo, horseshoe pitching and a memorial service.
