Bill Powell
Bill Powell, 92, of Portland, Indiana, passed away on August 30, 2026.
Bill was born April 5, 1934, and was a graduate of Celina High School in Celina, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Powell. He is survived by his children, Jeff, Beth, Jay, and Dan, his grandchildren, and many family members.
Bill dedicated much of his life to agriculture and the family farming community. He served as an executive leader of several local, state, and national Holstein dairy cattle and Haflinger horse organizations, representing family farms across the country. In recognition of his family's contributions to agriculture, they were named the Jay County FFA Family of the Year and Purdue University's Family of the Year (even though he was an avid IU fan!). Bill was known for his immaculate farmstead and his careful attention to every detail of his work. Over many decades, he owned and exhibited numerous cattle and horses that earned All American recognition.
Bill will be remembered for his dedication to his farms, community, friends and family.
