At the corners of the Mercer County Courthouse are colorful pinwheel flowers that are named The Promise Garden. The garden is a part of the Alzheimer's Association Northwest Ohio Chapter's Paint the Town Purple campaign that hopes to raise awareness of the disease and recognize those living with it. The garden is also a visual reminder of the walk set for Sept. 19 at Wright State University-Lake Campus. Check-in and activities for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer's start at 9 a.m. followed by the Promise Garden ceremony at 10 a.m. To register go to alz.org/walk.
