St. Marys scores three times in final 27 minutes to beat Sidney

ST. MARYS - Some first- game jitters saw St. Marys' boys soccer team trail Sidney 1-0 late in the first half, but a trio of goals in the second 40 minutes gave the Roughriders more than enough to beat the Yellow Jackets 3-1 in their season opener.
The win also marks coach Josh Slusher's first as the head coach of the Roughriders after three years as an assistant. [More]

Minster moved to 2-0 on the volleyball season with a three-set sweep of Sidney on Thursday at Wildcat Gymnasium. The Wildcats took the match over the Yellow Jackets 25-8, 25-19, 25-17.
CELINA - After a 4-6 campaign, Celina will look to build on the positives of the last season in which the Bulldogs won their final two home games to finish 4-5 in the Western Buckeye League.
COLDWATER - The 2025 football season for Coldwater was a struggle, with the team posting its most losses since 1994, the last season Coldwater had a losing record.
FORT RECOVERY - Fort Recovery had its first winning season since 2017 under former player Wes Wenning last year, and the second-year coach hopes that this team can capture the same magic his 2015 state title team had.
MARIA STEIN - For the first time in five years, Marion Local does not enter the season as defending state champions. However, with plenty of returning production coach Tim Goodwin hopes that the Flyers can reascend the mountaintop and claim another trophy.
MINSTER - With a solid nucleus of returning varsity experience Minster will be looking to make its mark in the always-tough Midwest Athletic Conference football standings.
NEW BREMEN - With returning players at key positions veteran New Bremen football coach Chris Schmidt is hoping he has the pieces for a complete puzzle.
ROCKFORD - It is a new era for Parkway football, as coach Keenan Leichty takes over after the Panthers finished 0-10 a season ago. With over 30 years of coaching experience, Leichty hopes Parkway can fare better in the Midwest Athletic Conference and snap a 16-game losing streak in conference play.
ST. HENRY - After winning the program's seventh state championship and first in nearly 20 years, St. Henry will look to keep up the momentum while filling some key roles.
ST. MARYS - In what's expected to be a competitive Western Buckeyes League football race, St. Marys coach Bo Frye is preaching a simple message to his team: Play your best to give yourself a shot.
CELINA - The 2025 volleyball season was a bit of an up-and-down run for the Celina volleyball team, going 8-16, but finishing above .500 in the Western Buckeye League at 5-4.
COLDWATER - After last season's early exit in the postseason, Coldwater looks to get back to its run of long tenures in the postseason.
The Cavaliers were 18-6 and finished 7-2 in the MAC before losing in four sets to Parkway, a team the Cavs swept a month before, in the district semifinals.
FORT RECOVERY - After 2025 saw Fort Recovery make a regional final for the first time since 1991, coach Travis Guggenbiller hopes that the Indians can take that next step in his seventh season.
MARIA STEIN - After reaching the district semifinals a season ago, Marion Local looks to new coach Marcia Moeller to guide the Flyers to more success in 2026.
MINSTER - With six returning letterwinners, fourth-year Minster volleyball coach Chelsea McGhee is looking for her squad to climb toward the top of the standings.
NEW BREMEN - Coming off its fourth Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball title in the last five years New Bremen looks to have the returning experience to make another run.
NEW KNOXVILLE - Ellie Gabel had some good years during her playing days at New Knoxville.

ROCKFORD - A memorable win over Coldwater helped Parkway finish as district runner-ups a year ago, and coach Jordan Henkle hopes the Panthers can take that next step as he enters his 11th season.
ST. HENRY - After a run to the Division VI state championship game a season ago, the St. Henry volleyball team will look to get back, and this time come away with the state title.
ST. MARYS - The St. Marys volleyball team flashed some potential last season.
Coach Caley Yoder thinks the Roughriders could reach their full potential in 2026.
