Celina senior Wes Greber, seated center, will attend Trine University and play football for the Thunder.

CELINA - Wes Greber liked Trine University from the get-go.

The Celina senior officially made his commitment to the NCAA Division III school in Angola, Indiana, to play football.

"The coach (Troy Abbs) started talking to me, texted me and came to the school. Then I went out to the campus and talked to the coaches," said Greber, who will major in sports management. "I looked around the campus. Everything seemed like home. It sounded like the place I wanted to be with all the classes I'll be taking. It felt like it was safe. There's so many activities I won't be bored."

The Thunder went 5-5 in 2025 with a 3-4 record in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association under Abbs, the university's all-time winningest coach in 11 seasons.

"The program is definitely growing," said Greber. "They're building a new weight room and film room. There's so many opportunities to play on Saturdays."

Greber was an all-around player for the Bulldogs this season. Greber ranked second on the team in receiving with 395 yards on 27 receptions and led the team with three interceptions on defense. Greber led the Western Buckeye League with 635 kick return yards and added 39 yards on punt returns. Greber was a first-team All-WBL defensive skills player selection.
