Dean Howell
Dean R. Howell, 37, Brockton, Massachusetts, after his two-year battle with thymic adenocarcinoma, passed away on Sunday, April 12 at his home with his family by his side to his new life in heaven.
He was born April 27, 1988, in Coldwater, Ohio to Joyce (Kanney) and Paul Howell, who survive in Coldwater. On August 18, 2018, in Cincinnati, Ohio he married the love of his life Anwar Mahajna, who resides in Brockton.
Also surviving are their two children, Ayhem Howell (6) and Elyanna Howell (3), Brockton; siblings Matt (Allison) Howell, Newport, KY and Paula (Mark) Hudak, Coldwater; mother and father-in-law Tahane and Muhammad Mahajna, Umm Al Fahem, Israel; brothers and sisters-in-law Ahmad (Manar) Mhajne, Ebraheem (Nowarah) Mhajne, Azhar (Sae'd) Mhameed all of Umm Al Fahem, and Manar (Loay) Kayal, Jdaidah, Israel, Anhar Mhajne, Jerusalem, Israel; and grandmother Marilyn Kanney, Coldwater; niece Savanah Howell and nephew Ellis Howell both of Newport. Dean is also survived by many aunts and uncles, Therese Hosbach, Lisa Alig, Mike, Jerry, and Bill Kanney, Mike, Mark, John, and Bob Howell, as well as many cousins, most of whom knew him as "Deano."
Deceased are grandparents Robert and Betty (Hill) Howell, formerly of Wheelersburg, Ohio and Vincent C. Kanney, Coldwater.
Dean was a 2007 graduate of Coldwater High School. He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he obtained his BS in psychology (2013) and a Master's Degree in social work (2016). He devoted his career to the care of mentally ill children and adults. He became the Director of Social Services at Boston Medical Center's behavioral health hospital, an in-patient facility treating adults suffering from serious psychiatric disorders.
Dean was a devoted husband and father who committed his life to his wife and children. He was loving, kind, and compassionate to his family, friends, co-workers, and everyone he ever encountered during his life's journey. Dean's hugs, humility and witty-humor will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Mass of Christian burial honoring Dean will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, at Holy Trinity Church in Coldwater. Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth's Catholic Cemetery, Coldwater.
Friends may call from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21 and from 9-10 a.m. April 22 at Hogenkamp's Funeral Home in Coldwater.
