Elizabeth Jutte
Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Hemmelgarn) Jutte, age 87, of St. Henry passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at The Gardens at St. Henry.
She was born on August 7, 1938, in Philothea, Ohio to the late Edward & Josephine (Wenning) Hemmelgarn. On June 16, 1956, she married August Jutte Jr. Betty and Auggie were married for almost 70 years, and Auggie survives in St. Henry.
Betty is also survived by her six children and their spouses, Connie & Brock Dilbone and Jerry & Theresa Jutte all of St. Henry, Joe & Lori Jutte of Celina, Ed & Diane Jutte of Minster, Jean Richmond of St. Henry, Dave & Christa Jutte of North Ridgeville, and a daughter-in-law, Marty Jutte of New Bremen. Other surviving family members includes her 25 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and in-laws, Aloysius "Bud" Jutte, Thelma Jutte, Lavern Vagedes, and Betty Jutte, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by a son, Ken Jutte, two grandsons, Brent Jutte and Brandon Dilbone, as well as siblings and in-laws, Floyd & Lois Hemmelgarn, Jerry & Shirley Hemmelgarn, Esther & Bill Keller, Paul & Rita Jutte, Mary & Ed Nieberding, Luella & Delbert Barga, Luke & Betty Jutte, Joan & Joe Schoenherr, Julius & Betty Jutte, Addy & Art Hess, Carl Jutte and Helen Vagedes, Mark Jutte, Zeno Jutte and Leonard Jutte, Betty Jutte, as well as her father and mother-in-law, August Sr. & Mary Jutte.
Betty grew up in Philothea and graduated from Coldwater High School. She began working at Hemmelgarn Eggs and then became a homemaker as her and Auggie grew their family. Betty assisted Auggie in owning and operating the former Jutte's White Villa grocery store in St. Henry. She also helped many families with their interior decorating while she worked at the St. Henry Hardware and Furniture store.
Later, Betty and her daughter Jean, co-founded Roses to Memories and helped many people in creating lasting keepsakes from roses from special events such as weddings and funerals. Betty was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, as well as the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of the St. Henry Legion Auxiliary, the Coldwater VFW Auxiliary, and the former Heritage Club in St. Henry. Betty loved spending time with her family, especially with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry with Fr. Larry Hemmelgarn presiding. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 6, or from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 7, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
